Earl’s Marvelous Elixir

Earl’s Marvelous Elixir is a blend of herbs that address pain and inflammation. In the 1990s, it was discovered that the body can produce an enzyme that causes pain and inflammation. Elderflower, holy basil, lemon balm, and rosehips help to reduce the Cox-2 as an alternative. Calendula is great for decreasing muscle soreness. Passion flower helps with exhaustion, decreases anxiety, and reduces spasms. Brewing Instructions and Tips

Hi! This is Martha from The Shaman and the Bear. Below you will find important information for brewing your tea, along with some helpful tips and ideas for larger batches and iced tea. I hope you enjoy your tea!

Brewing and Steeping Your Tea:

Hot Tea:

Brewing herbal tea is special because the teas are made from a variety of herbs, dried fruits, and spices. To preserve the full flavor and healing properties of your tea, heat your water to just below boiling and pour it over the tea ingredients. For blends with flowers, stems, and leaves, steep for 5-15 minutes. For blends with berries or roots, you can steep for longer, up to 30 minutes.

Use 1 rounded teaspoon per 8 oz. cup. If you’re making a pot, you may use less tea, depending on your taste preference.

Iced Tea:

To make iced tea, brew and steep your tea following the instructions above. After brewing, pour the tea into a canning jar or an airtight container. Place it in the refrigerator to cool. This method ensures that your tea will not be diluted when served cold.

Brewing Larger Amounts:

If you’re making a larger batch of tea, a larger tea infuser pot works great! These are available online, and we also sell them. Costco has an electric tea infuser pot that is perfect for both hot tea and larger quantities of iced tea.

If you don’t have an infuser pot, you can brew and steep your tea in a pan. Follow the brewing instructions above, then use a sieve or strainer to filter out the ingredients, leaving you with your hot or cold herbal tea.

Tea Accessories:

Here are some accessories you can use to brew your teas:

  • Tea ball

  • Individual tea infuser

  • Tea infuser pots and cups (available for purchase through us)

If you have an electric tea infuser pot, you’ll also need a way to heat your water. Costco (and possibly other stores) carry a 42 oz. electric infuser pot, which is my preferred choice for brewing both hot and iced tea.

Now that you have the perfect brewing instructions and tea accessories, it’s time to brew up your favorite herbal blend. Whether you’re enjoying a relaxing moment with a hot cup of tea or refreshing yourself with an iced brew, these teas are sure to bring healing and comfort to your day.

Martha Quiroga: Founder and Shaman

The Shaman and the Bear was born out of a love of herbs and respect for the healthful properties that they bring to us. The blending of the teas is done by Martha who has studied, grown and wild harvested herbs for over 25 years. She feels that teas and herbs in general gently improve health.

The products made by The Shaman and the Bear are hand blended and packaged in small batches by a few people who love the herbs and how they improve their lives. The packaging was carefully chosen for its ability to be composted (down to the silk ribbon) for the care of Mother Earth. If not you, then who?

When you open your tea, make sure you find the page from The Shaman and the Bear Book of Lore. This page will give you more detail on the medicinal properties of the tea.
